I guess you didn't read novel. If it were only Lengs, it would be so. The ones suffering are hordes of cultivators and traders. And Qin Chen hoped for this exact result. he scams Lengs into production of harmful pills and his commodity trading fraud basically twists the market where anyone who traded with grass suffers. At the moment in novel he even expresses he would prefer even more people being suckered. It is just that his move puts one blame on Lengs and other is hushed when Qin Chen tells everyone how pills are harmful and grass in a moment becomes worthless commodity from very expensive one.

If this is not fraud then I don't know what it is. But, that is the beauty of his character and makes him unpredictable and he has no scruples to scam someone. This in turn makes novel far better. Hell, the best show of this character is when he makes his body double from seed and part of his soul. But, when decision gets to finals, he decides he wants devil clone just to be able to do things he otherwise couldn't. Whole Qin Mo is pretty much all about scam.

So basically, he first bought the grass at normal rate then sell it to Leng at very expensive rate. (My personal speculation: I think he will send the recipe in Leng House by using the name of Yuan Family that’s why he ask Black Servant, “is there still some secrets left of your family?” I think he was indicating toward secret recipes of Yuan Family. Simply it was bait and they took it).

Nope, recipe will take care of it itself. Remember the spies. All they need to do is watch who steals it and you get two things, one is to get rid of spy and other is for Lengs to have 0 suspicion they were scammed.

Yuan retainers serve different purpose. After buyout competition between pavillion and Lengs reaches absolute high where there is market shortage which also makes price insanely inflated... that is where they come in and start selling all the grass pavilion bought even more expensive. All the grass pretty much stockpiles at Lengs, but this also causes madness at other traders who take grass as good trading commodity (aka, buy and wait price to sell)

Then all they need to do is sit on their ass and watch money fall until Lengs produce and start selling pills. Once they produced and sold enough, you only need to tell the pill is harmful and their reputation sinks. They are also left with no money (money from pills needs to be returned, grass stockpiled is worthless and they spent all their reserves in first two. Here you need angry cultivators

So, this is a scam 101. You start the scam. You earn money. You expose the scam by putting blame on someone else

Ahh, forgot the last step

After bankrupting and smearing Lengs, you put a new pill (even better and cough... he knew those pills from the start because he made them in previous life) on counter and offer resolving problems that were there from sale of 10000 flawed pills for free (QC only ever sells 10000 of those just to get Lengs panicky and they steal the recipe) and solving problems also for customers who used Lengs pills, just not for free. This now earns him part of the profits of bloodline hall.

At the scam reveal QC acts like a good guy who only ever produced 10000 pills and then stopped because they ?found? flaws and they needed replacement product and treatment method. Heh, they also publicly destroy ?all? (well, what Lengs didn't have money to buy left) the harmful grass

In the end, Qin Chen is the scammer who got filthy rich and destroyed enemies here. All pills (his and Lengs) are part of the plan and the more the better. Same goes for traders in commodity market, it is Lengs problem. But, putting all the blame on Lengs, he looks like a good Samaritan

It will be around 4 episodes I think. But, I can promise you the results will be surprising and anything but what you expect. It is not pill battle, it is a fraud 101 abusing the peoples vanity and greed. In those 4 episodes, pill pavilion will get rid of spies, QC will make shitload of money, Lengs will be bankrupt and pill pavilion will conquer the market... so, a lot happens in those episodes. Even if I tell you the final result, the road there... well, it is original

The MC isn't dumb. I highly doubt he'll build a bridge then turn around and burn it. The Pavillion will be alright
